Kekava

The municipality of Ķekava is part of the Riga metropolitan area. The municipality consists of three towns – Kekava, Baloži and Baldone and three rural territories (pagasts) – Kekava, Baldone and Daugmale rural territories. Its total area is 454.5 km2.

Proximity to the capital of Latvia, nature, infrastructure and the excellent connectivity – two Tent-T roads, one of them VIA Baltica – makes Ķekava Municipality attractive place to live and to do business, especially for manufacturing companies, logistics, trade and service providers.

Ķekava Municipality is one of the few local governments in Latvia which continues to have positive population growth dynamics – its population in 2022 reached 32 500.

The priority areas or the local government are education and infrastructure development, environmental improvements and creation of active recreation areas – these are the directions in which the local government works together with its institutional and social partners.

In 2019 the Youth Initiative Centre was opened – a place where young people can generate and implement new ideas, organize and attend activities in friendly and supportive environment.
