Suceava Municipality is situated in the historical region of Bukovina, north-eastern Romania, and at the crossroads of Central and Eastern Europe, 450 km from the capital Bucharest.

With a population of 127.435 inhabitants according to the latest data, Suceava is the largest city and the seat of Suceava County.

Suceava is strategically located, being an important road traffic junction-crossed by 2 European roads while the international airport located 12 km from the city center.

The most important economic activities are industry, constructions, tourism and services.

Tourism plays a very important role as Suceava is the place of several medieval sites that are closely linked to the history of the former Principality of Moldavia. By far the most significant (and at the same time the most well preserved one) is the Seat Fortress of Suceava (Romanian: Cetatea de Scaun a Sucevei) or Suceava Citadel, a medieval castle situated on the eastern edge of the contemporary city.

In the culture field, in Suceava city inhabitants and tourists have Bukovina ”I. G. SBIERA” Library, Bukovina Museum, “Matei Visniec” Theatre.

Suceava city is working hard on resilience and flexibility for the green economy. Nowadays. Public transport in Suceava city is 100% ecological.

Suceava Municipality was one of the most affected regions from Romania by COVID-19 pandemic and was often called Romania`s Lombardy. As result, the young population of the municipality suffered the most, while public administration had to find solutions for the psycho-emotional health of the youngsters. Therefore, it was a great opportunity for Suceava Municipality to be part of RE-ACT project due to all the experience gathered during these hard times.
